Vermeer has introduced the TR521 by Wildcat, a trommel screen designed for the screening of high moisture content and wet material, including topsoil, resulting in a consistent end product.
Tensioned screen panels on the TR521 add tensile strength and allow the use of a smaller gauge or diameter wire. According to Vermeer, using a smaller gauge wire opens the screening area so that, with wet material, there is a larger area for flow-through on a tensioned screen panel. Optional stainless steel fine gauge screen wire can provide additional production in some materials, and high-wear polyethylene brush assemblies aid in reducing screen “binding” by penetrating the screen openings on each drum revolution.
The TR521 features a large 3.8-cubic-metre (five-cubic-yard) hopper that is capable of producing up to 114.7 cubic metres (150 cubic yards) per hour of consistent, quality material. Plus, a low-hopper infeed height helps to decrease loading cycles and eliminates the need for loading ramps with most wheel loaders. Steep hopper sidewalls and a large throat opening help move material smoothly without bridging, and a reversible drum and feed conveyor help to avoid material jams.
Additionally, loading finished material directly into a truck or stockpiling is simplified with an optional 91.4-cm (36-inch) wide radial stacking conveyor that swings a full 200 degrees. This feature allows for the stockpiling of large amounts of material without moving the unit. The conveyor has a stacking height of 4.4 m (14.5 feet) with drum slope at four degrees.
Other key features include closely set, heavy-duty rollers, an overs conveyor with a stacking height of 0.9 to 3 m (3 to 10 feet), a maximum belt speed of 33.8 metres/minute (111 feet/minute), and a 73.8kW (99-hp) John Deere, low-fuel 5030HF diesel engine. The TR521 also features user-friendly controls and removable side panels which expose the full length of the drum screen, for easy maintenance and cleaning.
