Polyester made from 100 percent PET bottles
Ecospun is a high-quality polyester fibre made from 100 percent certified recycled plasticPET bottles. The fibre is chemically and functionally superior to non-recycled materials, according to the manufacturer, and can be blended with a patented Fosshield antimicrobial fibre technology to create durable and natural antimicrobial fabrics.
Ecospun fibre can be added to any textile product, including clothing, blankets, auto interiors, carpets, wall coverings, home furnishings, and craft felt. By blending this recycled fibre with its Fosshield antimicrobial technology, an antimicrobial fibre blend is created. Fosshield is an all-natural bi-component polyester fibre that includes a built-in, silver- and copper-based inorganic antimicrobial additive. When woven or needle-punched into fabrics, this blend effectively inhibits the growth of destructive bacteria, mold, mildew, and fungus. Roughly ten PET bottles comprise one pound of fibre.
