New recycling trucks designed for easy entry and exit
Designed for refuse, recycling and other specialized medium-duty applications, Freightliner Business Class M2 trucks with Stand-Up-Right-Hand-Drive (SURHD) are designed to make curbside entry and exit quick and easy. Utilizing an upright unit on the right side of the cab, drivers can operate the truck from both a standing position as well as from a seated position on the left-hand side during longer commutes. This configuration provides operational flexibility and maximum manoeuvrability. “We use our Freightliner trucks each morning to pick up recyclables and have been extremely pleased with their performance,” says Todd Christensen, a recycling rate manager for Waste Management Inc. in Oklahoma City, who recently began to add Business Class M2 106 trucks to his fleet. “Integrating the Business Class M2 trucks with SURHD into our fleet has helped us to increase efficiency, which is imperative because the success of our business rides on our ability to quickly pick up large quantities of recyclables from three heavily-populated communities.” Designed for maximum comfort and safety, Business Class M2 trucks with SURHD are engineered to provide unparalleled visibility and room, and the wheel cut provides outstanding manoeuvrability in urban areas. “Some of our older vehicles have maintenance issues every few months, such as broken cables on our fuel pedals, and we’ve had to wait excessive periods of time for parts,” said Christensen. “We haven’t had any issues with our Freight-liner trucks and as a result we’ve been able to minimize downtime.” Other key comfort and convenience features include a push-button parking brake, heating and air conditioning, and a stereo sound system.
