In response to requests from its customers in the Western U.S. where refuse collection vehicle weight is of greater importance, Heil Environmental recently introduced the Half/ Pack Sierra front loader. The Half/Pack Sierra offers all the features and benefits of Heil’s recently updated Half/Pack front loader, with 13 percent less weight. “Refuse haulers in the West need a lightweight front loader that they can depend on. So we took the Half/Pack and analyzed which components of the body were the most critical to durability and performance,” explains Shannon Harrop, Heil director of product management. “Then we used sophisticated, high-strength steels to make those components both stronger and lighter.” The resulting 28-cubic-yard Half/Pack Sierra weighs just 16,700 pounds, as opposed to 19,300 pounds for the same size standard Half/Pack body. Both bodies offer payloads up to 1,200 pounds per cubic yard, a packer cycle time of 22 to 26 seconds, and arm cycle times of 18 to 20 seconds.

To help customers choose the right recycle vehicle for their needs, Heil Environmental has created a new brochure covering its recycle vehicle line. The four-page, full-colour brochure features the Rapid Rail Co-Collector automated split body recycling unit, Formula 4060 split-body rear loader, and Recycle 2000 semi-automated split-body recycling unit. The brochure details the features and benefits of each model, using colour photographs to highlight key elements. “Because there is such variation in recycling practices from community to community, Heil has developed a number of different recycle vehicle models through the years,” explains David Baratti, vice president of sales and marketing. “We have automated, semi-automated and manual options in various sizes and configurations to meet virtually any need. This new brochure provides an overview of our product offering, so customers can narrow the field. Of course, our authorized distributors and sales representatives are always available to explore a customer’s needs in-depth and recommend the appropriate collection vehicle.”
