IWS expands services in New Jersey with latest acquisition
The newly formed partnership will join two family-founded organizations that share a similar commitment

Interstate Waste Services has acquired Pinto Service and National Transport (collectively Pinto), a family-owned waste-hauling company with roots in northern New Jersey. The partnership brings together two family-founded organizations that share a similar commitment to service, health and safety, and community engagement.
Expansion throughout New Jersey and New York
Founded in 1951 by Joseph and Gloria Pinto, Pinto Service grew from a single-truck operation into a waste management provider known for reliability. Communities will gain access to a fully integrated and expanded recycling and processing platform, as well as safety technologies.
As part of the acquisition, IWS will integrate all of Pinto Service's collection services, transfer station and disposal operations, employees, and its fleet of over 40 collection vehicles into its operations. Notably, the Pinto family continues its leadership role in the new IWS Lodi NJ operations, ensuring continuity while maintaining strong relationships built over decades.
The acquisition of Pinto Service marks another milestone in IWS's expansion across the tri-state area. It follows a series of strategic acquisitions aimed at strengthening IWS's market leadership, including Oak Ridge Waste and Recycling in Connecticut and New York, as well as Marangi Disposal, the largest independent hauler in Orange and Rockland Counties, New York.
Benefits of the acquisition
"As someone who grew up in the waste management industry through my own family business, I have a deep respect for what the Pinto family built over the past seven decades," said Michael DiBella, founder and chief executive officer of Interstate Waste Services. "IWS is a family business built on family businesses. We have grown by partnering with companies like Pinto that share our values of service, integrity, and community commitment. After over 30 years of friendship with the Pinto family, we're honoured to welcome them to the IWS family and remain dedicated to maintaining the high level of service their customers have relied on for generations."
"This partnership is a perfect match," said Charlie Pinto, owner of Pinto. "IWS not only shares our values and our dedication to service excellence but has a deep respect for our employees and the culture we have built. We will continue delivering the high-quality service our customers expect with the continued support of the Pinto team who have been the backbone of our business for seven decades."
