The Global Recycling Foundation has announced a new video entry process for its Recycling Heroes competition 2025. The competition is now in its seventh year and attracts entries globally, from young innovators and enthusiasts, to established businesses, all of whom recognize the challenges the world faces today from climate change, pollution, and the need to save our valuable resources. This year is the first where entrants need to submit a video as an application.

Last year, the Recycling Heroes competition winners included the Green Women Compost Production Company in India, which operates in the solid waste management site of the local government body; not-for-profit organization Soap Aid, based in Australia, for its Soap Aid Hotel to Hands Programme, which has recycled over three million soap bars to date; Netherlands-based recycling centre Despray Environmental, for the company's patented aerosol recycling technology; and in the U.S., the Scrap University Kids program (recently renamed Recycling is like Magic) which is creating a youth movement through educating schools about metal recycling.

Small initiatives can make a huge difference

This year, entrants are invited to submit 90-to-120-second videos demonstrating innovative ideas to promote recycling, sustainability, educational awareness, or waste reduction in their community, school, or business.

The videos should illustrate the problem being tackled, the solution or approach being outlined, and demonstrate the impact it has made. Where possible, this should be supported with data and statistics to show what makes the concept unique and effective.

By submitting entries, participants can inspire others around the world to take up the challenge and embrace the circular economy promoting a green sustainable planet. Videos will be judged on creativity and clarity of message illustrating success stories and educational outreach.

The 20 winning entries will each receive $500 plus inclusion in a press release shared through Global Recycling Foundation's global channels. Additionally, the first 50 winning entries will be shared on all the foundations's global channels over the following 12 months.

The closing date for entries is Friday, March 7, 2025. Videos and contact details with project details should be emailed to: [email protected]
