Over $150 million in forestry equipment displayed at DEMO International 2024
Over 6,850 attendees experienced one of the world’s largest live, in-forest equipment demonstrations.
The 2024 DEMO International concluded on September 21 after five full days of groundbreaking displays, industry networking, and the latest in forestry innovations. Hosted by SBC Cedar and organized by the Canadian Woodlands Forum, the event marked the successful return of DEMO International, continuing its 55-year legacy as one of the world's largest live, in-forest equipment demonstrations.
With over $150 million in forestry equipment and machines on display from top manufacturers and suppliers internationally, over 6850 attendees had plenty to see and experience along the 3.2 km loop. DEMO International showcased a variety of forestry equipment, including excavators, mulchers, grinders, chippers, forwarders, harvesters, portable sawmills, log loaders, and much more. The event also featured an exciting on-site Log Loader competition, presented by Barko and Équipments Marquis.
Francis Bélanger, SBC Cedar, host of the 2024 DEMO International, remarked: "We are truly honoured to have hosted DEMO International 2024 and would like to extend our deepest thanks, first and foremost, to the organizers, the Canadian Woodlands Forum. Collaborating with CWF was a rewarding experience, resulting in five incredible days. A special thanks to all the exhibitors, attendees, and speakers — your dedication and passion for forestry innovation made this event a resounding success. It was a pleasure to see the industry come together, exchange ideas, and inspire the next generation of forestry professionals. We all share similar values, and it is clear that we are all part of one big family."
The event kicked off with the two-day DEMO International Technical Conference, where a lineup of presentations focused on the latest trends and advancements in forestry. Covering topics ranging from artificial intelligence and automation in forestry operations to sustainable forest management practices, the conference set the stage for a remarkable week. Experts from across the globe shared insights into the technologies shaping the future of forestry, from local innovations to advancements with national and global impacts.
One of the highlights of this year's event was the presence of multiple groups of students from local schools. The student visits were a success, with exhibitors excited to engage with and inspire the next generation of forestry professionals. These interactions provided students with a unique opportunity to network and learn from industry experts as they prepare to join the industry.
Becky Geneau, Executive Director of the Canadian Woodlands Forum, reflected on the success of the event: "The scale of DEMO International 2024 was truly impressive, bringing together forestry professionals and innovators from around the world. This year's show provided a unique opportunity to explore the future of sustainable forestry and witness firsthand the incredible advances in technology and equipment that are transforming the industry. We are proud to continue the legacy of DEMO International and are already looking forward to the path ahead."
As one of the premier forestry events, DEMO International has been a platform for showcasing innovative solutions for more than five decades. The 2024 edition was no exception, highlighting advancements that promise to drive the industry forward for years to come.
"What a week it's been welcoming exhibitors and visitors alike from across the globe," said Mark Cusack, national show manager. "The displays on-site were incredible, and we'd like to extend an immense thank you to each person who made the trip out to Venosta."
