There has been strong demand for UNTHA's RS shredders following the firm's reveal of the new advanced generation series, at IFAT in May.

The Austrian-owned shredding technology company released the fourth iteration of its four-shaft shredder, at the Messe München event earlier this year. With new features and a new appearance, the innovation attracted industry attention, with 17 customers securing the first production slots, says the company.

Orders for both the compact RS40 and larger, heavy duty RS100 have been placed in the UK, Germany, Austria, and Türkiye, with potential sales being discussed in Poland, North America, Spain, and France.

"The RS shredder has been transforming the commercial and environmental impact of businesses, worldwide, for decades," says UNTHA's head of global sales Peter Streinik. "But we can't stand still. So, when we attended IFAT back in May, we were proud to reveal even more improvements. These included a more solid construction for added machine longevity, adaptations to boost throughputs, and even easier service and maintenance. We're delighted with the feedback from the industry and this early demand."

Shredders on their way to Germany, United Kingdom, and Türkiye

The first confirmed orders were for five RS40s and two RS100s destined for the UK. These sales were made at UNTHA's IFAT booth, before the trade fair had even ended. These machines will tackle confidential waste, WEEE, swarf, and product destruction applications, with two shredders also being held as UK stock assets to provide immediate availability for interested customers.

Among the wider fleet currently in production, are two RS40s and an RS100 set to shred coated copper and aluminum foils. This trio of machines will be sold to the lithium-ion battery production market in Germany. Elsewhere in Germany, an RS40 has also been sold for security shredding.

Other notable deals include two projects in Türkiye. Predominantly known for waste shredding with the XR single-shaft shredder, UNTHA Türkiye has begun to see rising demand for four-shaft technology. The two RS40s will go to an automotive facility and to a product destruction site.

Developments are now underway on other models in the RS shredder range, with further market launches planned for 2025. With six RS models available and hundreds of different configurations, there are currently more than 5,000 of UNTHA's four-shaft shredders already installed worldwide.
