Lindemann Metal Recycling appoints Markus Tandel as head of procurement and aftermarket
Lindemann Metal Recycling has appointed Markus Tandel as its new head of procurement and aftermarket.
Tandel, 42, brings a wealth of experience to Lindemann. His career began in the heating machinery industry where he worked in the purchasing team. His international experience includes two years in Slovakia, followed by stints in Germany and the UK, overseeing business development in the UK, France, the Netherlands, and Belgium.
Tandel's career continued at French multinational Saint-Gobain, where he specialized in strategic sales projects, customer segmentation, and performance metrics across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. In 2020 he joined Saurer, in the textile machinery industry, where he worked in after-sales and service.
At Lindemann, Markus now oversees the procurement and aftermarket functions. His responsibilities include technical service, field service, service centre operations, order management, procurement, warehousing, and inventory planning.
"There are two critical aspects to succeeding in the aftermarket sector," Markus explains. "First, having a value-oriented and market-driven pricing strategy. Second, proactively engaging with our customers, offering not just products but comprehensive solutions such as bundles, retrofits, and modernization packages."
On the procurement side, Markus emphasizes the need for a cost-driven approach: "We need to rethink our sourcing strategy and vendor management, not just for capital equipment but also for parts. By optimising procurement costs, we can enhance our competitiveness in aftermarket sales."
"Markus's dual experience in both procurement and service makes him well qualified to bridge these crucial areas, driving cost efficiencies and enhancing market competitiveness," said Lindemann's CEO Carl Gustaf Göransson.
Outside of his professional life, Markus studied Business Economics at Dortmund University and enjoys road cycling, running, and spending time with his children.
