Helping reduce barriers to recycling of plastics in Canada
Only 12% of Canada's plastic waste is collected for recycling, and even less actually gets recycled. CSA Group research confirmed the lack of consensus on definitions for recycling as one of the barriers to moving from a linear to a more circular economy. A clear definition of recycling in the context of plastics could help better evaluate recycling efforts and policies and influence packaging, manufacturing, and supply chain choices. For these reasons, CSA Group is now advancing the first Canadian standard to define plastics recycling. Learn more about the research that informed the current development of this national standard.
