EREF of Canada to hold silent auction at Canadian Waste & Recycling Expo in October
Funds raised to support solid waste research and education in Canada
After the success of last year's inaugural event in Canada, the Environmental Research & Education Foundation of Canada (EREF-CA) is excited to once again hold its Silent Auction, October 9 and 10, at the Canadian Waste & Recycling Expo (CWRE) in Toronto, Ontario. Proceeds from this event, which is being held in partnership with the Ontario Waste Management Association (OWMA), support solid waste research needs in Canada.
EREF-CA's Silent Auction affords donating companies greater visibility during the show and allows them to demonstrate their commitment to scientific research advancing the solid waste industry in Canada. Donations to the Auction consist of a variety of items, which could range from sporting event tickets to trips to electronics.

EREF's Canadian Presence
In 2017, EREF-CA and the Ontario Waste Management Association convened in Ontario, Canada with the goal of strengthening the funding of Canadian-based research and scholarships for sustainable solid waste management practices. The meeting resulted in the formation of a Canadian Steering Committee, which met for the first time in March 2018. The committee, comprised of Canadian-based service providers, equipment manufacturers, regional agencies, consulting firms and universities, identified and prioritized solid waste issues affecting Canada.
In 2018, EREF-CA initiated its State of Organics Management Project. Goals of this project include analyzing program availability, assessing infrastructure and tonnage, summarizing current sustainability research and reviewing options and challenges in Canada. This project is currently on-going with data being released as it's available.
The Environmental Research & Education Foundation of Canada (EREF-CA) is a non-profit public charity (application approval pending) that supports research and educational initiatives related to sustainable solid waste management practices in Canada.
