GEEP awarded Government of Canada E-waste Standing Offer Contract
GEEP (Global Electric Electronic Processing) Inc. has been selected by Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) for the provision of environmentally-sound recycling of Federal Surplus Electric & Electronic Equipment (EEE) nation-wide for the Government of Canada. GEEP has taken a leading role in providing responsible solutions for the processing of e-waste into commodities for manufacturing. This Standing Offer will contribute to PWGSC’s mandate of assisting the government in its commitment to become a model of environmental excellence in its operations and within its broader sustainable development strategy. The Standing Offer is expected to recycle over four million pounds of Government of Canada electronic waste into commodities.
To qualify for this Standing Offer, GEEP’s Barrie and Edmonton processing facilities passed a rigorous third party audit and assessment of their procedures and processing facilities. The audits confirmed that both locations are in compliance with environmentally-sound management criteria developed by the Government of Canada. The criteria were based on emerging and established provincial and national regulations as well as international obligations for e-waste recycling. GEEP is already qualified as an approved processor under the majority of Canadian provincial e-waste programs and continues to work with other legislative bodies globally.
