At the Recycling Aktiv, Goudsmit Magnetics will present a complete demo recovery line for the recovery of ferrous and non-ferrous metals from ASR (AutomobileShredder Residue), metals, wood, construction and demolition waste, etc. During the trade fair the material to be separated will circulate over a mobile non-ferrous separator before passing under a permanent scrap drum magnet that picks out the pieces of iron and then casts them over the top, back into the product stream.
The mobile eddy current separator developed by Goudsmit is built on a trailer and equipped with a super-strong non-ferrous separator, type NF1500/38HI, which contains the most powerful magnetic rotor in the market. The high magnetic force on the belt surface, the magnetic field angle and the magnetic field penetration depth all boost the separation efficiency for both the fine (<5 mm) and medium metal fractions – in many cases by up to 30%. Drum magnets The line includes a drum magnet for separation of ferromagnetic (Fe), paramagnetic and weakly magnetic particles from a bulk material stream.
The fact that the drum rotates continuously and automatically separates and discharges ferrous particles makes these magnets versatile and enables them to handle high capacities. The compact size allows these magnets to be used in places where there is too little space for solutions such as suspension or overbelt magnets. These magnets are specifically designed for streams that contain a lot of iron. The thick-walled drum casing is more resistant to impact of the many iron parts than, for example, the rubber belt of an overbelt magnet.
Circular economy Goudsmit follows the trends in the market carefully and has observed that recycling streams such as ASR (Automobile Shredder Residue), metals, wood, construction and demolition waste are being separated into ever smaller fractions. A few years ago these fractions were difficult to separate from each other and were therefore treated as a waste material. The development of more advanced crushers, shredders and sieves has made it possible to feed these materials to magnetic and eddy current separators. This makes better recovery of metal fractions possible. The aim is to create desirable metal mixes for metal processors or smelters. The metal yield is higher when they are purer. It is also important to recover as many metals as possible, particularly nonferrous metals, and bring them back into the economy. This is less expensive than producing new metal.
