Efficient, compact whole tree chipper

Efficient, compact whole tree chipper

Building on the success of its towable Model 2290 whole tree chipper, the Model 2290 Track features a Caterpillar 315L undercarriage or a larger 320L undercarriage option. Despite its compact size, the self-propelled Model 2290 Track offers a 20-inch diameter capacity with a 30-inch weld on tray as standard equipment. A variety of engines featuring as much as 440 hp are available, and units can produce over 50 tons of chips per hour.

“The Model 2290 Track is an extremely versatile chipper that will excel in most every type of land clearing operation,” said Bandit Industries President Jerry Morey. “Its smaller size makes it particularly useful in situations with spongy ground or steep inclines, where towable chippers may not be a viable option."

The Caterpillar 315L undercarriage on these units features a track shoe width of 600 millimeters and an approximate ground pressure of 6.3 pounds per square inch.  “The two CAT undercarriages, offered along with powerful drive systems, provide this machine with exceptional power, great floatation and good maneuverability,” said Morey.

An optional 5 ½’ infeed conveyor can be ordered to assist with loading piles of brush or shorter logs, and the 2290 features a large 24.5 x 26.25-inch chipper opening, and a high-capacity stationary discharge system.

“The 2290 Track is especially appealing to land clearing contractors who are developing lots for houses, where some trees are being left on-site,” said Morey. “For the road and right-of-way clearing and maintenance contractors, the powerful feed system makes it an ideal machine for chipping trees, tops and brush from regrowth under power lines and along highways, where terrain is often sloped and soggy.”

As with Bandit’s entire line of whole tree chippers, the Model 2290 Track offers a wide range of options on everything from horsepower levels to infeed length, allowing for plenty of customization. Built-in loaders are a common addition, featuring backhoe-style units with a lift capacity of 1,750 pounds and a reach of 112 inches. The loader utilizes a continuous rotation grapple with a swing of 360 degrees, all operated from a comfortable operator’s cab featuring electric-over-hydraulic joystick controls.

Another popular feature for Bandit’s line of self-propelled equipment is wireless remote control, allowing for simple, convenient single-person operation.

“Those going without a loader are land clearing and logging contractors who will feed it with a backhoe or loader on-site,” said Morey. “In those instances, a radio remote control is available for the operator feeding the machine, allowing for complete control of all chipper functions, including movement.”
