DEMOLITION EXCAVATOR REACHES UP TO 92 FT
Liebherr introduced the R 954 C VH-HD Litronic demolition excavator this past March at Conexpo. The R 954 C VH-HD Litronic weighs approximately 160,000 pounds and has a reach of 92 feet (28 m). Working attachments include a 37-foot one-inch (8.8 m) long demolition boom, an eight-foot two-inch (2.5 m) intermediate boom and a 28-foot (8.55 m) demolition stick. As with all Liebherr demolition excavators, the R 954 C VH-HD Litronic offers a 3,600 operating radius without any limit in stability or reach – essential to efficient and safe demolition work. Units are equipped with an adjustable undercarriage, and tracks can be adjusted for transport to a width of nine feet nine inches, and then extended at the jobsite to upwards of 12 feet 11 inches – offering optimal stability with a significantly increased footprint. A special cab on these models can be inclined up to 300 to allow the operator to comfortably view the attachment and work area, and cabs are equipped with heavy-duty window protection as well as armoured glass.

Also standard on all C-Series Liebherr demolition excavators is the company’s Tool Control. This control allows operators to easily change hydraulic tools and adjust pressure and flow rates with a simple selection from the control panel in the cab.

An additional safety feature is the new Liebherr Demolition Control System – “LDC”. This active safety feature, ergonomically placed within the operators view, provides information on the machine’s operating angle and automatically activates the electronic reach limitation if a critical limit is reached. This means that when maximum reach is achieved, movements of the attachment that could reduce the excavator’s stability are limited, ensuring safe operation of the machine.
